COMMUNITY & EVENTS MANAGER
Industry Lab is looking for a Community + Events Manager to be part of our three-person management team and work in our Inman Square location.
Industry Lab offers a uniquely flexible, neighborly flavor of co-working to recent grads, startups, artists, freelancers and small businesses of all types in the heart of Cambridge. Here at IL, the community is curated for diversity across all fields of work and backgrounds and the suites are filled with dedicated desks for coworkers we know and trust. We work hard to remain accessible to all makers by maintaining below-market rates and custom workspace design as well as an Artist-in-Residence program. We are crazy passionate about creating a neighborhood for our coworkers and friends, a place to both lend a hand and reach out in times of need. We are proud to be making co-working in Cambridge more accessible, amplifying the arts and encouraging collaborations among some of the smartest and friendliest folks in town.
This role will tie together the arts programming and co-working community that thrive under one roof and weave Industry Lab into the larger Inman Square and Cambridge/Somerville neighborhoods.
What you will get to do
Foster and maintain relationships between Industry Lab and its members, acting as a “barometer” for the IL team to gauge the evolving community climate
Maximize and manage the use of the Industry Lab event space through community-oriented programming and event reservations that leverage local arts, education and community-building initiatives
Manage and advance the year-round Artist-in-Residence program, with IL team support
Share consistent communications with IL internal and external communities via both web and print channels, such as emailed newsletters, website calendars, printed flyers and social media
Curate membership for diverse disciplines, participatory attitudes and continuous opportunities for collaboration
What Skills We Look For
You are a master relationship-builder, navigator and conflict negotiator
You enjoy attending and hosting events and are excited to leverage these skills
You have flexibility in your schedule, to be able to host events and occasional gallery hours (and the ability to use those hosting hours productively)
You organize successful events, and run with communications and marketing leading into events and follow-up thereafter
You can manage event budgets of all sizes and keep organized records
You are a team-player; you have no problem leaning on or supporting your team during various departmental lulls or heightened activity throughout the year
Working at Industry Lab
As a team, we’re committed to striving toward and further shaping our shared values of inclusivity, continuing education and efficiency, in ourselves and in our teammates.
We support flexible hours and occasional remote work, although this role requires presence by nature. We focus on results and output.
We believe that wellness is key to both happiness and productivity. Teammates working 25 or more hours per week are offered full health insurance. Our team also receives 25% off Brooklyn Boulders memberships and free participation in all Winter Wellness Week events.
We recognize that time away is as valuable as time with the team. We offer all teammates, full or part-time, competitive and flexible paid-time off.
Our office is in the heart of Inman Square, full of colorful coworkers and collaborators, great coffee, funny (friendly) dogs and some of your new best friends.
Industry Lab is an equal opportunity employer that values diversity within our staff. We do not discriminate on the basis of race, religion, color, national origin, gender, sexual orientation, age, marital status, veteran status, or disability status. In fact, we are confident that the most inclusive and diverse teams accomplish the most wonderful results.
